If you want to stay cheep you dont have to go to a damn hostel. Stay at any number of hotels in the Outrigger chain. Hawaii is very cheap to eat. Street food abounds and a lot of the hotels fast food restaurants as the hotel restaurant. Fact.

Stayed in Honolulu next door to the International Marketplace two blocks back from Waikiki beach on Kuhio Ave..
Rented a Harley – Davidson to get around & had no problems with traffic, left Honolulu going east around Diamond Head then up the east coast to the north shore and back south through the middle of the island to Pearl City then back to Honolulu.
Stopped many times at numerous beaches and found a nice family owned burger joint and surf shop for a quick bite.
Saw the famous sites we all have heard of.
Rode around the island for five days stopped at every Harley shop on the island.
Spent 5 days on the trip and had a great time.

I lived on Oahu for 4 years in Makakilo. Malamaโ€™s (small market) in our neighborhood had the delicious poke. I would stop and pick up a few containers on my way home on Friday and feast all weekend. Yum

Really enjoyed this video. It contains exactly what I was looking for in terms of things to do away from the tourist strip. And the advice in the comments made this even more useful. Just wondering if Matt is still around since it looks like his last video was pre-pandemic. Either way, Matt: my deepest thanks!

So Poke is how we make it here in USA…sadly no one seems to know how to make other than those living in the state of Hawaii…why you Hawaiians won't spread the love…we all share the same country here. Send the other 49 the recipe so we can modify it some more.

๐Ÿค™๐Ÿ˜ ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ–๐ŸŒž When you said that coming to Hawaii feels like coming home, I can relate. Once when I flew in to Oahu I actually said that to the person sitting next to me, but I always feel that way. Aloha. ๐Ÿค™๐ŸŒบ
